Cloud Computing

Overview
VanceInfo's Cloud Computing solutions include both public and private clouds with the capability to help companies build both private clouds and public cloud. Currently, VanceInfo provides customers and partners with three different operating modes for Cloud Computing:

Public clouds: VanceInfo builds and operates applications and services on public clouds, rendering services to individual consumers and corporate customers.

Partner integration: Partners such as independent software developers and system integrators develop PaaS-based ERP, CRM and other applications of Cloud Computing, and provide services to end users on this platform.
Private clouds: Customers can choose VanceInfo Cloud Computing solutions to build their own Cloud Computing platform. VanceInfo can provide users with full support of products, technologies, platforms, and operation and maintenance management.

VanceInfo utilizes a mature software platform, extensive industry experience, and diversified business operating modules to provide users with comprehensive Cloud Computing solutions. VanceInfo also collaborates with partners to build robust Cloud Computing platforms that meet the needs of our joint customers.

Background
Cloud Computing is an integration of grid computing, distributed computing, parallel computing, utility computing, network storage, virtualization, load balancing, network technology and other traditional computer technologies. It is designed to pool computing resources of multiple low-cost entities throughout the network to form one logical system with a powerful computing capability. This computing power is then distributed to the end users. A core concept of Cloud Computing is the continuous improvement of "cloud" processing capacity and a continuous reduction of processing at the client ends, which allows client ends to be minimized into simple input and output devices, while powerful computing capabilities are provided by the cloud.

According to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the definition of cloud computing is categorized into three types of service models.
  1. Software as a Service (SaaS), the role of this model will render the application as a service to customers
  2. Platform as a Service (PaaS), the role of this model is a development platform as a service to users
  3. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), the role of this model is to provide a virtual machine or other resources as a service to users
Following this classification, VanceInfo has launched Cloud Computing infrastructure open platforms with components and features that correspond to software, platform, and infrastructure services.

Solution Offering
The Cloud Computing Open Platform (CCOP), which falls under the PaaS category, will be provided as a development environment that developers can use to create their own applications and select infrastructure from service providers to execute the applications. Then the applications can be distributed from the provider to end users throughout the network.

With the PaaS model, users can develop applications on a platform that includes an SDK, documents, and testing environments, all of which adds to the convenience of development. During deployment and execution, users do not require servers, operating systems, or worry about resource management of networks and storage, as this tedious work is handled by the PaaS. A server running a single CCOP Enginecan support thousands of applications, making it very cost-effective.

CCOP primarily consists of the following four functions:
  1. User-friendly development environment: By providing tools such as SDK and IDE for convenient development and testing
  2. A wealth of services: Open platform provides upper layer with services in API form
  3. Automatic resource scheduling: This provides for scalability - not only optimizing system resources, but also automatically adjusting resources in the case of unexpected traffic
  4. Sophisticated management and monitoring: It can provide an application layer with management and monitoring
Solution Features
  • Basic operations for applications: Create, delete, start, stop, and remove applications
  • Adjustment of the node resources: CPU, memory, storage
  • Namespace resource adjustment: CPU, memory, storage
  • Storage virtualization: Disk management, SAN, and cluster file system. Cache system integration
  • Network virtualization: Network flow control in the namespace
  • Monitoring, statistics and alarms: Tracking server and node resources. Routeruse. Recovery and migration following a pre-set policy
  • User-friendly development environment
