Utility Computing

Utility computing has the potential to shake up the entire IT value chain of corporate computing, and is typically enabled through ‘green’ computing infrastructure that has been Cloud-enabled through virtualization, and software applications that have been architected to run as a service (SaaS).  It provides for the packaging of computing resources and applications to offer a metered service similar to traditional public utilities such as electricity, water, natural gas, or the telephone network. This has the advantage of requiring low initial capital costs and minimal ongoing IT infrastructure overhead.

VanceInfo works with our clients to help them participate in the industry shift towards Utility Computing.  Our integrated business model of Consulting, Solutions and Outsourcing provides a synergistic base that follows a paradigm of offering Software + Services:

Professional services

  • building private clouds for large corporations at the application and infrastructure (virtualization) levels
  • migration of internal applications to Cloud computing platforms (‘SaaS-enabling’).  Rationalization of the application portfolio and standardization of applications across whole organization.
  • testing of new Cloud-enabled applications
  • Globalization/localization of Cloud-based applications

R&D outsourcing services

  • Building Platform as a Service (PaaS) components for a large Cloud services provider
  • Cloud component testing services
  • Globalization/localization of Cloud infrastructure components, including virtualization software

VanceInfo SaaS applications that are bundled with Cloud service provider offerings

  • Example: SaaS Contact Center for small & medium businesses (SMB)

Hosted SaaS applications

  • Offered as Utility Computing applications and charged by number of transactions
  • Partner with leading Cloud service providers to provide physical hosting and infrastructure components that
adhere to defined service level agreements (SLAs)
